Where to look

Search after a storm from the north-west in the band of gravel and stones at the foot of the cliff. Look at flints with a dark, smooth pattern and at heavy, elongated pebbles with a fibrous break.

What you can find

belemnites, sea urchins in flint, sponges in flint

Best wind: N, NW

Rules and safety

Pick up only loose finds from the beach, by hand and for your own use. Do not dig into the cliff or the dunes. Do not stand under the cliff face, especially during a thaw. Before you go, check with RDOŚ in Szczecin whether the stretch lies in a protected area.

About the cliff

Ustronie Morskie lies east of Kołobrzeg. The cliffs on this part of the coast are usually glacial till with sand and gravel. Fossils reach the beach together with stones washed out of the till.
