See the pre-saleWhere to look
Look in pine forest with bilberry and in mixed forest where pine meets oak. After rain, start with the drier rises, because the low ground is waterlogged. The edges of tracks and clearings often give the first mushrooms of the season.
What grows here
penny bun / cep (prawdziwek), bay bolete (podgrzybek brunatny), chanterelle (kurka), slippery jack (maślak zwyczajny)
Forest: pine and mixed forest on the sands of the Sandomierz Basin
Season: The season starts with chanterelles in July. You will find bay boletes and cep mostly from August to October.
Rules
A large part of the forest lies in Lasy Janowskie Landscape Park. There are also nature reserves, where picking mushrooms is banned. Information boards mark the boundaries, so read them when you enter the forest.
About the forest
Lasy Janowskie (the Janów Forests) lie around Janów Lubelski and are among the largest forest complexes in south-east Poland. Pine, fir and oak grow here, and a mosaic of peat bogs and pine forest gives different habitats.
