See the pre-saleWhere to look
Look in young and middle-aged pine stands, along the edges of forest tracks and by clearings. Slippery jacks and saffron milk caps grow in young plantations, but forest cultures up to 4 m tall are closed to entry. Damper hollows hold water longer than dunes do.
What grows here
slippery jack (maślak zwyczajny), saffron milk cap (rydz), chanterelle (kurka), bay bolete (podgrzybek brunatny), penny bun / cep (prawdziwek)
Forest: extensive pine forest on the sands of the Noteć river valley
Season: The season usually starts with chanterelles in July. Slippery jacks, saffron milk caps and bay boletes peak in September and October.
Rules
Some parts of the forest lie in landscape parks and nature reserves with local bans. Sandy pine forest dries out fast, so in summer the forest can be temporarily closed to visitors because of fire risk.
About the forest
Puszcza Notecka (the Noteć Forest) stretches along the lower Warta and Noteć rivers in western Poland. It is mostly pure pine forest on very permeable sand. There are plenty of mushrooms, as long as it has rained beforehand.
