See the pre-saleWhere to look
Look in the lower parts, in mixed forest on gently sloping ground. After rain mushrooms appear first in the valleys and then higher up. Wear boots with good tread, because the paths are slippery.
What grows here
penny bun / cep (prawdziwek), bay bolete (podgrzybek brunatny), chanterelle (kurka), birch bolete (koźlarz babka), honey fungus (opieńka miodowa)
Forest: lower montane spruce forest, beech woodland and mixed forest
Season: The season runs from July to October. At higher altitude it starts later and ends earlier than in lowland forest.
Rules
Picking mushrooms is banned in Karkonosze National Park (Karkonoski Park Narodowy) and in Table Mountains National Park (Park Narodowy Gór Stołowych). The ban also applies in nature reserves. The Owl Mountains lie in a landscape park with local rules.
About the forest
Sudety (the Sudetes) are a mountain range in south-west Poland, and the Owl Mountains (Góry Sowie) are one of its more wooded parts. Spruce and beech dominate. The forests are dense and in places steep.
