See the pre-saleWhere to look
The best places are the edges of old pastures and orchards, where deer feed in winter, and ridges with worn trails between valleys. Check steep stream crossings and fallen trees where a stag can knock an antler off.
Species
red deer, roe deer
Season: Red deer shed from February to April, roe bucks from October to December. The main search season is March and April, after the snow is gone and before the grass grows.
Terrain: beech and fir forest, abandoned pastures and former Lemko villages
Rules and closures
Magura National Park and nature reserves are excluded, because collecting antlers is banned there. Outside them, do not enter wildlife refuges or plantations marked with a no-entry sign, do not disturb animals and do not let a dog run loose (Arts. 26 and 30 of the Forest Act).
About the area
The Low Beskids are thinly populated mountains with lots of forest and meadows overgrowing former villages. Red deer have peace and plenty of food here. Wysowa-Zdrój lies outside Magura National Park and is a good starting point.
