    How to read the index

Red deer and elk usually shed from February to April, moose in winter, roe deer in autumn. The index follows the species calendar for each area.

Snow hides sheds, so the best time is right after the melt. Animals are weak in late winter: do not push them, and respect winter range closures.

Do not miss the next window

The best windows last a few hours: after a storm, after rain, on a clear night with an active Sun. Sign up and we will email you when the index at your spots goes above 60.
