Where to stand

Stand at the edge of the village by the open meadows and face the marshes, where there are no lights. In summer there is often mist and plenty of mosquitoes over the wetlands, so bring repellent. Check in daylight how to reach dry, public ground.

Horizon

Flat meadows and marshes; the sky is open almost down to the horizon

Sky darkness (Bortle scale): 3

Rules

Biebrza National Park charges an entry fee and lets you walk only on marked trails, so ask the park office about night access. The marshes are dangerous after dark, so stay on the roads.

About the spot

Dobarz lies in the Trzcianne commune, at the edge of Biebrza National Park. The marshes and meadows along the Biebrza are almost uninhabited, so it is very dark here at night. The flat, open land gives a view of the whole sky.

Do not miss the next window
