Finnish everyman's rights (jokamiehenoikeudet) let you pick mushrooms with no limit. Picking is usually allowed in Koli National Park, but check the map of closed zones on luontoon.fi. Do not pick in yards or gardens.
About the forest
Koli is a set of hills above Lake Pielinen in North Karelia, an icon of the Finnish landscape. Around it grow spruce, pine and birch on old slash-and-burn fields. The area is warmer and damper than Lapland, so the season is longer.
