See the pre-saleWhere to look
Come at low tide and look into the coves between the rocks. There is less glass every year, because visitors carried it off by the handful and the waves keep grinding it down.
What you can find
white, brown, green, small, well-tumbled pieces
Best wind: W, NW, SW
Rules
Look only: taking glass from the beach in the state park is prohibited, and rangers ask visitors to leave it in place. Two older dump sites (Site 1 and Site 2) lie outside the park; follow the signs there.
About the beach
Glass Beach in Fort Bragg formed on an old dump where rubbish was thrown straight onto the shore from 1949 to 1967. Since 2002 the site has been part of MacKerricher State Park.
