Where to look

Search the rocks below Pointe du Roc and on Plat Gousset beach at low water. Days with a high tide coefficient are best.

What you can find

crabs, anemones, starfish, hermit crabs, prawns, wracks

What to do: rockpooling, mussels, wildlife watching

Shellfish and sanitary status: Gathering for your own use is allowed within national sizes and the Manche limits. ARS Normandie tests the gathering sites and the prefecture announces bans, so check both first.

Rules and safety

National sizes apply, plus the limits and bans of the Manche prefecture. After heavy rain the water near town can be contaminated, so skip gathering. Your catch must not be sold.

About the place

Granville sits on a rocky headland with very large tides. At low tide, rocks with pools uncover below Pointe du Roc and along the beaches. Ferries to the Chausey islands leave from here.
