See the pre-saleWhere to look
Around Bystrzyca Kłodzka, look for yarrow and sorrel in meadows and for elder and nettle by abandoned buildings. You can pick bilberries and wood sorrel in the spruce forests of the Bystrzyca Mountains. Limes flower in July in avenues and town squares, but avoid trees by roads.
What grows here
stinging nettle, elder (elderflower, elderberry), dandelion, yarrow, bilberry, wild strawberry, wood sorrel, dog rose (rosehip), small-leaved lime (linden), ground elder, white dead-nettle, common sorrel
Habitats: foothill meadows and pastures, spruce and beech forest in the surrounding mountains, scrub by former villages
Rules
Picking plants is banned in Table Mountains National Park and in reserves such as Śnieżnik. Most forest is state forest, where you may pick for your own use except in plantations under 4 m. Wild garlic is protected, and the regulation allows it to be harvested, with a permit only, in the Silesian, Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian voivodeships, so do not pick it in Lower Silesia.
About the place
The Kłodzko Valley is ringed by the Table, Bystrzyca and Orlické mountains and the Śnieżnik massif. Meadows and fields cover the valley floor, with spruce and beech forest on the slopes. Many villages emptied after 1945, and elder and nettle grow by the ruins.
