Rules

Allemansrätten lets you pick wild flowers, herbs and fruit that are not protected (fridlysta), on private land too, but not near homes or on crops. You may not dig plants up with their roots, or pick protected species for sale, and species lists are on the county board (länsstyrelsen) website. Nature reserves may ban picking, so read the signs.

About the place

Småland in southern Sweden is a land of forests, lakes and stony pastures. Around Kosta, pine forest with bilberry stretches for miles, and juniper covers old pastures. The season is later than in Poland, but July can be very rich.
