Where to watch

The loop is about 6 km and starts at the observation tower beyond the village of Zastawie, reached from Urszulin towards Wereszczyn. For the crane flight, arrive before sunset and stand on the tower. Listen for aquatic warblers in May and June in the evening, from the boardwalk.

What you can see

common crane, aquatic warbler, moose, European pond turtle, Eurasian curlew

Best time: September to October at dusk, May to June at dawn

Rules

The trail needs a ticket, sold at park points or online, and you do not step off the boardwalks (Article 15 of the Nature Conservation Act). Do not disturb cranes at the roost, which is banned by the regulation issued under Article 52 of that act. Do not play bird calls and do not fly a drone.

About the place

The Czahary trail crosses Bagno Bubnów, the largest peat bog in Polesie National Park. In autumn more than 3,000 cranes sometimes roost here, one of the larger gatherings in the region. In spring the aquatic warbler sings here, and the park holds about 400 singing males.
